#Tamasha- Short Movie #Review

This movie reminded me of a quote from The Joker-“Madness, as you know, is like gravity,all it takes is a little push” !
Went to the film with zero expectations, expecting a random love story as many we have seen before but I couldn’t be more wrong about the film. After the 2nd half, I was pleasantly surprised and a tiny bit mind blown as well ! A very good film. There are some exceptional themes and some serious psychological stuff, things that make you think ! A part of the movie almost touches neo-noir. Ranbir Kapoor is exceptional throughout the film, Deepika Padukone as sexy as ever(I couldn’t keep my eyes off her in the first half) ! The movie picks up pace in the second half where Ranbir steals the show. Loved Imtiyaz Ali’s work on the film. Certainly worth a watch !

#Spectre-Short Movie #Review

Spectre- One word for it :- Disappointing ! Lazy Direction, average cinematography, a bit slow. Never been a Daniel Craig as Bond fan but Skyfall gave me some hope but alas it was short lived. Okay, here you go after the deserved success of Skyfall, hopes were high on Spectre, for two reasons- One it was coming after Skyfall and second and more importantly, Spectre and the whole Bond’s arch nemesis throughout all his film, Blofeld was rumoured to come back. Spectre has always been the Devil to Bond’s angel, the left to his right. But, the way the movie was made seemed was made just for the sake of it. Maybe I am more disappointed as I am huge James Bond fan, have watched each and every Bond film multiple times starting from the very first Dr. No,which also had the Spectre angle. No,its not a bad movie, its average but with Bond and especially when you bring in Spectre(the organization) you can’t just accept average. A couple of nostalgia scenes and references to the earlier movies here and there but over that nothing much in it. And, I still hate Craig and his poker face as Bond ! Sadly, Spectre is no Skyfall.

P.S.- Opening credit Sequence good but not a good song this time !

Bridge Of Spies- Short Movie Review

The Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks combo is back, this time with a historical Drama, set during the Cold War co-written by the amazing Coen Brothers. Hanks with another excellent performance. The movie is slow to start with but keeps you intrigued, with an excellent second half to follow. Reminds you a bit of Spielberg’s own Schindler’s List with the story and a bit of Mad Men with the 60s vibe. May not be Spielberg’s best film but certainly a good film and worth a watch !!

The Intern- Short Movie Review

Robert De Niro is such a brilliant actor, an actor who grew up playing gangster roles, a regular in Scorsese films has grown into such beautiful roles such as in Silver Linings Playbook, Meet The Fockers etc. Here, he plays a 70 year old Intern, an observant, witty chap, who helps others in every manner. Anne Hathaway is exceptional as his boss. A real feel good comedy drama, with some touching moments and hilarious quips. A bit of melodrama towards the end but over all a good film and one I would certainly recommend people to watch. Was a bit sceptical earlier but enjoyed it !

The Martian-Short Movie Review

What makes a good movie great? My answer- The Background Score and the Soundtrack and The Martian has exactly that. Ridley Scott and Space sci-fic films are a match made in heaven. It has everything that you expect from a Ridley Scott film beautiful landscape shots, strong female characters and some superb intense scenes. Matt Damon, damn that was some amazing work, entertaining, fun and intense. Watch Damon Science the shit out of the mess. Michael Pena with another nice quirky cameo and an overall amazing cast of Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Chiwetel Ejiofor to add to the amazing script and direction. For a run time of almost 140 mins, not a single dull moment and some amazing songs playing in the background and a particular one in the end. Yes, The Martian is not just a good film, it is great film!!

P.S.- Sean Bean is there in the film and he DOES NOT DIE. I never thought that would ever be possible in a movie or a TV series 😛

The Essence of Friendship

As you grow, you meet new people at every juncture of your life, some are forgotten,some are remembered,some with a smile,others with disgust but the point being you meet people,individuals,to some you become a part of their life,some become part of yours,a very important part. Such is life. Some acquaintances become great friends,some great friends become lost memories. In life,you have friends,no,you just don’t have them,you need them, to the lucky few, there are quite of lot of them,you look into them,ponder how different they are to each other, each and everyone has a different personality, they stand out as an individual, its amazing when you think how different they are,not a single point of similarity in them,yet you enjoy your time with them,variety is the spice of life,indeed. Everyone might not have all the positive qualities, they might have things you don’t like,but then that’s human. Still,with all the positives and negatives in them you enjoy their company,you ignore the bad,it doesn’t matter to you. When you are down,they are there. When they are down, you are there. Its a give and take relationship like no other. All I am saying is Life is Beautiful and it becomes more beautiful when you have people who care about you and you care about them. May the Force be with You all.

Dhoom-3- Short Review

Whoh !! Dhoom 3- One of the worst film I have seen in recent times and that is something cause I had to watch R…..Rajkumar n Singh Saab the Great while travelling in a bus !! After 2 “decent” films, this is a load of bollocks ! A “Now You See Me” meets “The Prestige” with the typical bollywood clichés…..stupid slow mo action sequences ! What is Katrina even doing in the film, in fact what the hell are Abhishek Bacchan n Uday Chopra doing in there….its just Aamir Khan all over with stupid narrations trying to look pissed in every second of the film ! I had enjoyed Dhoom 2 moderately and had some expectations with this film with Aamir being in it, but sadly its hugely disappointing ! The director seems confused whether he is making an action flick or mystery flick or just giving an ode to Aamir Khan n his acting ! What a bore ! 1/5

The Hobbit-The Desolation of Smaug-Short Movie Review

“I AM FIRE, I AM DEATH!!”-Smaug. Watched a film on the big screen after a long time and I am glad it was this one ! To be strictly seen on the big screen 1 of Inox,race course,if you are in Baroda,not meant for the small screens of mukta or cinemarc and its one of the best 3d experience I have had at Inox,very clear and pleasing to the eye for a change(it has been improved drastically or it might be something to do with the film and its 48fps 3D) Overall simply superb typical Peter Jackson film….great action sequences! Martin Freeman…..fantastic,The return of Sauron…..thrilling,the Orcs…..hate ’em,Gandalf…still kicking ass, it was a pleasant surprise to see Stephen Fry in there….loved his small role and the best THE BOOMING N NERVE CHILLING VOICE OF BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH as SMAUG in the late half of the film !!! Hats off !!Go for it and wait for “There and Back Again” to come next year !! 4/5

San Diego Comic Con 2013 brings in the BIG news !!!

Okay, let me summarize this-Batman/Superman film coming up, Avengers 2 officially gets a title The Avengers-Age Of Ultron, Quicksilver may be a part of this film, Robocop Reboot, The World’s End update, X-Men-Days Of The future Past’s entire cast shows up(Thats gonna be one hell of a film), Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D gets a airing date, HIMYM gets ready for season finale with the kids ranting on Ted, Guardians of The Galaxy is coming in which may start Phase 3 of Marvel Universe, Captain America-Winter Soldier update !!! All in all, Marvel n DC going all in !! Well, thats San Diego Comic Con 2013 for you !!

The Lone Ranger- My View

Cometh disguise, Cometh Johnny Depp. There are Cowboys, there is the great canyon, there is Johnny Depp, what is there to hate?? In the words of Tonto(Depp) I will say this ‘Me like Film, Film fun Watch, Watch if like cowboy films!’ Johnny Depp is back after a boring Dark Shadows last year. Tonto is up with one of his best characters! Gore Verbinski,director of the first 3 Pirates of Caribbean n Rango hues us another superb Depp Character ! Armie Hammer plays the Lone Ranger excellently with light humor flying throughout the film! 3.5/5
